#WeAreArity Wednesday: Steph Ryter

In our #WeAreArity Wednesday series, we shine a spotlight on Arity employees each week. Meet Steph Ryter from our Culture Team.

When my friend asks me what it is that I do again, I say…

At Arity, I help make this a great place to work and lead a team fully dedicated to the employee experience, and we are not HR! 😊

In your own words, what is Arity?

Arity is a company with intelligent people that is focused on taking mobility and analytics data and creating it into valuable insights to improve transportation.

What is your work for home set up like?

I created a space where I can easily support all company meetings using 2 monitors to ensure our employees have a good experience. You will often see me standing while facilitating workshops to get some movement in my day (I might be swaying around as evidence!) My office has pictures my son Austin made, and I tried to design the space to give me a feeling of comfort (recently added a couch to switch things up, added some pictures on the wall that I took in Italy to trick my mind to think that I’m working in that beautiful country), and added some green plants because I see them on HGTV design shows and think it helps complete the space!)

We all commuted into the office prior to COVID, how are you spending the extra time?

I get to have more time with family. My son who’s going to be 9 years old this year, and I take him to school and after school sports. I also workout every morning, and it’s been great for my mental and physical health.

Most people don’t know …

That I played women’s soccer on a scholarship at Loyola University Chicago. I used to hate running unless there was a soccer ball in front of me. Also, I have been on TV several times due to working in the media after collage. I originally wanted to be a news anchor on TV. That’s why you see my run meetings like they are TV productions! That’s my background and it translates nicely in the remote environment.

The theme song of my life is…

“Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World” mashup. It reminds me to appreciate everything and have gratitude.

Would you get in a self-driving car? Why or why not?

Yes! I’m usually the driver of my family, and it would be nice to just be able to look out the window, relax, and enjoy the drive!

Favorite innovation pioneer?

Henry John Heinz (The person ensured that I can eat Ketchup anywhere! If you know me, it’s my favorite food to eat!)
