#WeAreArity: April Uzzle
When Mom asks me what it is that I do again, I say ……
At Arity, I code and build driving solutions to help our mission of making transportation smarter, safer and more useful for everyone.
How would you describe Arity to a friend?
Arity is a company dedicated to transforming the world’s broken transportation system.
Would you take a self-driving car if you could? Why or why not?
Yes, I would ride in a self-driving car! It could get rid of a lot of stress associated with driving.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
Not many people know that I can speak Japanese. My grandmother was always fascinated by Japan and thought that they had a unique culture. She never had the opportunity to visit Japan before she passed away, however this sparked an interest in me which lead me to study Japanese in college. I wouldn’t say that I am fluent, however, I am proficient and look forward to visiting the country one day!
If you could volunteer for any cause, what would it be? Why?
If I could volunteer for any cause, I would teach financial and technical literacy to teenagers and adults. These skills are essential for every human being as they open opportunities for success. A lot of people I’ve been close to in my life have never had the opportunity to learn about financial responsibility and it’s important that everyone is prepared for these moments in their life– like why your credit score is so critical, the importance of paying taxes or how to get a loan. I was lucky enough to learn about these things from my mother, but I’d love the opportunity to share my knowledge with those who aren’t as privileged.
Who inspires you?
Beyoncé & Steve Jobs. They are both responsible for completely revolutionizing two industries: music & cell phones. Before Beyoncé, there wasn’t a finesse to dropping music albums. She was the first singer to drop an album randomly at 12 AM without prepromotion. It was so revolutionary, now it’s become the new way to release music – everything she does is iconic and legendary. When it comes to Steve Jobs, he completely changed the way we use cell phones. Both have lead complete disruption in their industries, and that’s truly inspiring.
